Court Remands two for Robbery with Aggravation

Two men, Ibrahim Tarawallie, a petty trader from Freetown, and Mohamed Sannoh Sesay, a farmer from Gbeden Village, have been remanded at the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) by Principal Magistrate Hadiru Daboh of Magistrate Court No. 1 in Kenema, on multiple counts of Robbery with Aggravation.

The accused were brought before the court on six counts, including Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with Aggravation, contrary to Section 23(a)(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916, as repealed and replaced by Section 1 of the Schedule of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2022.

According to court records, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Tipa Lane, Senegal Field, Kpayama Section, Kenema, the two accused, armed with cutlasses and giant cutters, conspired with unknown individuals and carried out a series of robberies targeting multiple victims.

They allegedly robbed Aminata Kamara of two 32-inch plasma televisions valued at NLe 7,000, a Tecno Spark 10 smartphone worth NLe 3,000, a pink Samsung A4 smartphone valued at NLe 3,000, ten ladies’ handbags worth NLe 1,200, cash amounting to NLe 380, and USD 200. The total loss was estimated at NLe 15,540 and USD 200.

On the same night, they reportedly robbed John Samuel Cowan of a Samsung Note 9 smartphone worth NLe 5,000, a brown tablet valued at NLe 4,800, cash totaling NLe 750, USD 100, and other items, with total losses estimated at NLe 14,500 and USD 100.

They also robbed Josephine Moiba of a laptop valued at NLe 4,500, a wedding ring worth NLe 2,500, and other valuables, bringing her total loss to NLe 7,800.

In another incident, they allegedly robbed Fatmata Sannoh of a Samsung A12 smartphone valued at NLe 3,500, cash totaling NLe 2,000, and other items, with overall losses estimated at NLe 5,750.

The court noted that no plea was taken from the accused at this stage. The matter was adjourned to August 25, 2025, while both men remain in custody at the SLCS.

The case is being prosecuted by Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa. The second accused, Mohamed Sannoh Sesay, is represented by Defence Counsel Alhaji Gassimu Kamanda, while the first accused, Ibrahim Tarawallie, is currently without legal representation.
