Throughout the years, from the administration of the former head of state, His Excellency Dr. Siaka Probyn Stevens in 1957 to the current Bio-led government in 2025, the development of the Shenge road network has been a frequent subject in discussions and promises.
Many commitments have been made regarding its enhancement, underscoring its importance as a vital project.
It seems that the full economic potential of this road network has not yet been completely recognised by various political stakeholders in Sierra Leone.
This road stretches approximately thirty-six miles, connecting Sembehum/Bagbura Chiefdom to the Shenge headquarters in Kargboro Chiefdom.
The deteriorating conditions of this route pose significant challenges, particularly for motorbike riders and fishmongers, especially during the rainy season.
The concerns of local residents are growing, as the state of the road is adversely affecting their businesses.
During this time, sea transportation becomes unreliable due to heavy storms and unfavourable weather conditions.
The current state of these roads necessitates urgent attention and improvement.
We kindly urge the government, para-politicians, and diaspora members to unite and prioritise this critical issue.
Let us set aside political differences and focus on the collective betterment of our nation, as Sierra Leone is our shared home.
The Shenge road network is not only significant for local livelihoods but also plays a role in generating income for the country.
The government must prioritise urgent maintenance and development of this infrastructure to support the welfare of its citizens.
