Representatives from the Chinese Embassy have on Monday 7th April 2025 engaged the Honourable Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs – Amara Kallon, on China’s position on the scheduled Third High-level Forum on South-South Triangular Cooperation (SSTrC), to be hosted in Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs (MoPAPA) from the 7th – 9th May 2025.
The event with theme, “Forging Good Governance and Economic Resilience to foster Africa’s Integration and Agenda 2063,” would bring together Heads of States, former Heads of States, development partners, policy makers, youth groups, women and girls, the civil society, with a host of other eminent persons from both the public and private sector.
In his remarks, Minister Amara Kallon disclosed that Sierra Leone would for the first time host the third high-level SSTrC following Egypt and Uganda respectively. He went further to state that this acclaimed event would create the enabling platform for investors to invest, as the event would showcase youth in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Minister informed that about six (6) Presidents/Heads of States from Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, Algeria and Egypt are expected to grace the occasion.
Minister Kallon in his statements called on China for financial aid or technical support, and he further informed that a special session would be in place – for China to inform the general public about their cooperation and partnership with the Government and People of Sierra Leone.
Amongst the expected discussions at the event, the Minister noted that there would be discussions on resource mobilization, and much more.
Dr. Xia Yinyin – First Secretary Chinese Embassy enlightened that, China is one of the biggest contributors of the SSTrC and that China remains committed and looking forward to partake on the event.
