His Lordship the Honourable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda of Sierra Leone has joined fellow Chief Justices from across the Commonwealth to participate in the 20th Triennial Conference of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges’ Association (CMJA) in Banjul, themed Combating Corruption and Promoting Accountability in the Judicial

Sector, this prestigious gathering, which began on Sunday, September 21, and will conclude on Friday, September 26, 2025, unites judicial officers from all 54 Commonwealth nations, serving as a vital platform for global legal dialogue.

The CMJA Conference stands as a leading forum for judicial collaboration, facilitating the sharing of innovative practices, judicial reforms, and strategies to address persistent challenges such as case backlogs, corruption, and threats to judicial impartiality, chief Justice Kamanda’s involvement highlights Sierra Leone’s steadfast commitment to reinforcing international judicial partnerships, upholding the rule of law, safeguarding judicial independence, and promoting good governance, aligning with his long-held priorities.

Reflecting on the conference’s significance, Chief Justice Kamanda remarked, the insights and experiences exchanged at the CMJA Conference will fuel ongoing reforms and capacity-building efforts during my tenure.
