Celebrating Europe Day

By National Political Prophet

On this auspicious Europe Day, the National Authorising Office (NAO) led by Director Ambrose James, in collaboration with Minister Kenyeh Barley, EU Ambassador Manuel Müller, and Team Europe, proudly unveiled the EU4You Bus Tour 2024 in Sierra Leone. Departing tomorrow, 10th May 2024, this transformative journey will traverse through ten key regions including Port Loko, Kambia, Makeni, Kono, Bo, Pujehun, Kenema, Kalaihun, Moyamba, and Waterloo.

The EU4You Bus Tour is more than just a road trip; it’s a testament to the enduring partnership between the Government of Sierra Leone and the European Union. By showcasing GoSL-EU development cooperation projects, as well as initiatives implemented by EU member states, the tour aims to highlight the tangible impact of these collaborative efforts on communities across the nation.

Director Ambrose James emphasized the significance of listening to the voices of project beneficiaries. Through firsthand accounts, the tour offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into how these initiatives have positively transformed lives and uplifted communities. It’s not merely about showcasing projects; it’s about understanding their real-world implications and ensuring that development efforts are truly people-centered.

Europe Day holds profound meaning for Sierra Leone as it commemorates the historic ‘Schuman declaration’ of 1950, which laid the foundation for peace, prosperity, and political cooperation in Europe. For over four decades, the partnership between Sierra Leone and the EU has been characterized by trust, mutual respect, and shared goals. The EU has emerged as a steadfast and dependable partner, consistently supporting Sierra Leone’s political and development aspirations.

At the heart of this partnership lies the National Authorising Office, operating under the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development. With dedication and diligence, the NAO continues to facilitate GOSL-EU development cooperation, ensuring that projects are efficiently implemented and effectively serve the needs of Sierra Leoneans.

As the EU4You Bus Tour embarks on its journey, it symbolizes more than just a showcase of projects; it represents hope, progress, and unity. It’s a tangible manifestation of the commitment to building a better future for all Sierra Leoneans, guided by the principles of peace, prosperity, and solidarity. #EU4SierraLeone #EuropeDay
