Sierra Leone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay Esq., alongside Deputy Minister Madam Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh, met with senior police officials on Wednesday to sharpen the nation’s response to sexual and drug-related crimes. Held at the Guma Building in Freetown, the high-stakes discussion zeroed in on streamlining investigations, accelerating prosecutions, and fortifying support for victims.
The meeting tackled persistent challenges slashing delays in legal proceedings, fostering tighter collaboration across agencies, strengthening police frameworks, and prioritizing victim care. It underscored a unified push to deliver justice with speed and precision.
Our resolve to combat sexual and drug-related crimes is ironclad, Attorney General Sesay declared. This is a collective fight, and we’re doubling down with all partners to ensure swift justice, shield victims, and bring offenders to book.
Deputy Minister Saccoh echoed this commitment, placing victims at the heart of the effort. Justice isn’t just about enforcing laws it’s about amplifying every victim’s voice, supporting them, and safeguarding their dignity, she said. Together, we’ll overhaul our systems, cut delays, and hold those behind these vile acts accountable.
The Ministry of Justice, in lockstep with the Sierra Leone Police and allied agencies, pledged to refine tactics and deepen cooperation. The goal: a safer, more responsive Sierra Leone where crime meets consequence and victims find strength in a system that stands with them.
