AUDIT SERVICE SIERRA LEONE
PRESS RELEASE
AUDIT SERVICE ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS ON PROPOSED REGULATIONS
Freetown, Sierra Leone –2nd September, 2024:
The Acting Auditor-General wishes to inform the general public that the Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL) is presently formulating Regulations that will provide for the effective implementation of its mandate as provided under the Audit Service Act 2014 and its amending Act of 2023. A draft Regulations has been developed and the ASSL is currently consulting stakeholders on the aforementioned document.
Consultative meetings have been held in Port Loko, Makeni, Kenema and Bo from 26th – 30th August, 2024. Stakeholders from the various local councils, Ministries Departments and Agencies, Civil Society Organisations and the Media were also in attendance.
It is hoped that these Regulations will address amongst other things the procedural technicalities of the functions and powers of the Audit Service, including the implementation of Disallowance and Surcharge as enshrined in the Audit Service Act, 2014 and its amending Act of 2023.
In light of the above, the ASSL will be organizing Stakeholders Consultation exercise on the proposed Regulations on 4th and 5th September, 2024 at The View Hotel Restaurant and Sky Lounge, 15th Floor, FCC Building, Wallace Johnson Street at 10:00 am each day.
Day 1 will target representatives from the two local councils in the Western Area, MDAs, Civil Society Organisations and Media
Day 2 will target representatives from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone and external audit firms.
