Residents of the Kpayama Section in Kenema City were jolted from sleep around 3:00 a.m. on July 31, 2025, when armed robbers stormed a local residence, stealing valuable items including Four Hundred United States Dollars (US$400), a Samsung mobile phone, and approximately Two Thousand New Leones (NLe 2,000) in local currency.
The incident triggered a swift response from the Kenema night patrol team, whose timely intervention disrupted the robbery in progress. As the suspects attempted to flee the scene, police officers launched a hot pursuit, resulting in the arrest of three suspects.
Law enforcement recovered some of the stolen items during the operation. The victims later positively identified the suspects and the recovered property, providing strong evidence to support the prosecution’s case.
The success of this operation reflects the renewed commitment of the Kenema Police Division to safeguard lives and property particularly during nighttime hours when residents are most vulnerable.
Police have confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and will be processed in accordance with the law. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
The Sierra Leone Police is encouraging members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities.
