Following his appointment as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Amb. Abu Bakarr Karim has presented the Presidential Letter of Credence to President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China. The ceremony took place at the prestigious Great Hall Presidential Palace in Beijing, the Capital of China, where Ambassador Karim was warmly received by President Xi Jinping.
As diplomatic courtesies demand, Ambassador Karim conveyed warmest greetings and well wishes from President Julius Maada Bio, Government and the people of Sierra Leone to President Xi, Government and the people of China.
Ambassador Karim who will now utilize the diplomatic mandate of officially flying the Green, White and Blue Flag of Sierra Leone in and within the PRC, expressed unflinching commitment in strengthening the already diplomatic, friendly and cooperative relations between the two Countries.
Welcoming Ambassador Karim to the PRC, President Xi Jinping reciprocated the warm greetings and sentiments from the Government and people of China to the Government and people of Sierra Leone. He applauded the existing bilateral ties between Sierra Leone and China and highlighted the collaboration in various sectors such as infrastructure, education, health, and trade. The Chinese leader, known for his strong support of diplomatic relation, congratulated Ambassador Karim on his appointment and expressed his desire to strengthen the cooperation between both nations.
The ceremony came into conclusion with President Xi extending his best wishes to President Bio and wished his government and the people of Sierra Leone progress, peace and prosperity.
In response, Ambassador Karim thanked President Xi for his hospitality and assured him of Sierra Leone’s unwavering commitment in deepening diplomatic ties with China.
Following the official ceremony, the Embassy staff headed by the head of Chancery hosted a reception in honour of their ambassador thereby sending a unified congratulatory message to His Excellency Ambassador Abu Bakarr Karim for haven gone through a smooth and successful presentation of presidential letter of credence. It was also to appreciate him as a leader with consultative qualities.
Ambassador Karim in an ecstasy tone, expressed satisfaction over what he described as hard work and dedication to duty by the embassy staff that also led to a successful presentation ceremony. He praised their professionalism and the crucial role they are playing in promoting the interest of Sierra Leone in China. The Ambassador also admonished staff to brace up for more challenges in the interest of the people of Sierra Leone.
In a spontaneous and usual reflection, Ambassador Karim thanked the president of Sierra Leone for entrusting him the responsibility of representing the Country in China. He reiterated his dedication to effectively carry out his duties and contribute to the cementing of bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and the PRC.
The presentation of credentials by Ambassador Karim concretized his official appointment as Sierra Leone Ambassador to China. It serves as a formal introduction to the leadership of the host Country and dataries the beginning of his diplomatic duties in promoting bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and China.
