A murder case of Juldeh Jalloh involving two accused persons, Fatima Sow of New England, Nyandeyama Section in Kenema and Abdulrahman Jalloh of Burma 3 Section in Kenema were arraigned in court before Justice Abubakarr Sannoh of the High Court in Kenema on two counts ranging from conspiracy to murder contrary to law.
It could be recalled that Fatima Sow the first accused was charged to court for conspiracy and Abdulrahman Jalloh the second accused was charged to court for conspiracy and murder. At the beginning of the proceedings, the State Counsel in Kenema, Andrew. F. Kamara informed the court that they intend to adduce no further evidence against Fatima Sow. He most respectfully applied that Fatima Sow the first accused be discharged as his humble submission. The Judge asked for objection but rather no objection was raised and Fatima Sow the first accused was discharged. The State conferred the Director of Prosecution.
The Office of Anthony General is different from the Judiciary. Anthony General’s office is a political wing of the Government whilst the Judiciary is there to Interpret the Law. Fatima Sow took an oath in court to testify in the matter. In her testimony, she was cross-examined by the court.
The Judge was quick to tell the audience that a court is not like a mosque or church. In the court he said, they called things by their names adding that they should allow the court to end at the logical conclusion with fairness.
Justice Abubakarr Sannoh told the Jurors who are Judges of the fact that what is adduced in court is important not what happened outside. “What you see on social media is not important. What is important is what you adduced in court as evidence,” he cautioned.
The first accused was represented by Defence Counsels, Patrick Kamara of Legal Aid Board, Monya Sheriff and Henry M. Karimu. The second accused was represented by Defence Counsels, Victor. S.S. Ansumana and Augustine Gowa. Andrew F. Kamara, State Counsel and Customary Law Officer in Kenema prosecuted the matter on behalf of the state.
The case was adjourned to November 28, 2024 for further hearing.
