Residents of Kaffu Bullom have raised concerns over the deplorable condition of their feeder roads, which have become nearly impassable especially during the rainy season. In a series of interviews with different people from different parts of Kaffu Bullom shared their struggle challenges they face over this issue.
Memunatu Sankoh expressed her concern over the Rotifunk- Mahera road, a critical pathway for her and many others “The road is extremely deteriorated, particularly now which is in the rainy season,” she said. ” I have to walk on foot instead of taking motorbike to reach Rotifunk market, where I do my daily selling and buying stuff. It’s very exhausting and time-consuming.”
The poor road conditions are not only affecting adults but also pupils who rely on these roads to get to school. In an interview with one of pupils from the Munomakarr International Secondary School, Daniel Kamara said, ” The road network is terrible, and it poses significant challenge for us as pupils. Sometimes, while riding a motorbike to school, we often fall into dirty water, we then have to return home to change into clean uniforms, which making us late for classes. ” He said.
He added by saying ” improving the road network in Kaffu Bullom requires a collective effort.” He continued that our representatives must step up and fulfill their duties, prioritizing infrastructure development and maintaining open lines of communication with their constituents. He stated. He also continued by calling on Youths to take active role in advocacy and community involvement, and ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs be addressed.
Speaking to another pupil from the St. Augustine Agricultural secondary school, Limatta Kamara explained the hazardous road condition that leads her school that the road is very deplorable for them the pupils. She continued by asking the authorities concern to please address the issue.
