Audit Service Hobnobs with Young Graduates
The Audit Service Sierra Leone through the Information, Education and Communication Division has joined other organisations to showcase the activities of the office during the University of Sierra Leone Job Fair Exhibition at the Basement of the Freetown City Council Building in Freetown.
During the two-day exhibition on 4th and 5th July, members of the public including university students and young graduates engaged different organisations to understand their activities and explore job opportunities.
Martin Sandy, Senior Communications Officer and team of the Audit Service Sierra Leone explained the role of the Audit Service, as the supreme audit institution of Sierra Leone mandated by section 119 of the 1991 Constitution to audit all public institutions that receive funds on behalf of the people of Sierra Leone.
In an individual engagement, the team further explained the vision and mission of the Audit Service, and the process of auditing clients.
Mr. Sandy and team told participants that auditing is a process that starts with planning, execution and reporting. He revealed that the Audit Service report its findings to Parliament on yearly basis, as prescribed by law.
The team provided career advice to young graduates who expressed interest in working for the Audit Service, an institution they described as very credible in the country. A participant told the team that he always follow-up on audit issues to the letter. “My dream is to work for the Audit Service Sierra Leone for my retirement,” he further told the team.
The participants lauded the efforts of the Audit Service Sierra Leone for promoting accountability in the country, by holding public officials to account.
Dr. Fatmatta Taqi, Director of Academic, Career Advisory, Counselling and Students Complaints Services (ACACS) at the University of Sierra Leone (USL) said the Company Exhibition, Career Expo and Job Fair is organized to provide young graduates and university students the opportunity to interact with potential job creating institutions to look for their dream job, explore business and gain employability insights.
She said ACACS will continue to provide these opportunities every year, and called on young graduates, university students and employable institutions to make use of the opportunity.
The Audit Service team used the opportunity to showcase the different reports produced including the Annual Auditor General and Performance Audit Reports.
