Two Defendants, Ibrahim Bockarie a herbalist of Manowa Kpejeh Town in the Kailahun District and Madieu David Barrie a vehicle apprentice in Gbenderu village, Kenema District have on July 28, 2026, sent to jail Six years (6yrs.) Imprisonment by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Abdul Sheriff of the High Court in Kenema for Larceny in dwelling house and for wounding with intent.
The two arrainged in Court on two counts charged on two different files. A Defendant, Ibrahim Bockarie was standing trial for Larceny in dwelling house contrary to section 13(a) of the Larceny Act 1916 and Madieu David Barrie for wounding with intent contrary to section 20 of the offences against the Person’s Act 1861. The charges were read to the Defendants by Thomas. B. L. Sam the Registrar of the court in Kenema. He informed the court that the Ibrahim Bockarie on January 14, 2026, at 3 Jayah street in Kenema, entered a dwelling house of Doris Hawa Bockarie and stole one Samsung galaxy mobile phone valued at NLe 7,000, property of Hawa Bockarie. He pleaded guilty and begged for mercy and was sent to jail Three years(3yrs.) Imprisonment. Madieu David Barrie on March 30, 2026, at Gbenderu village, Kenema District, wounded Ibrahim Lamin with Intent to disfigure him. He pleaded guilty and asked for liniency and was sent to jail for Three years (3yrs.) Imprisonment.
In his Judgement, Justice Abdul Sheriff, considering the guilty plea taken by the convicts and the plea in mitigation done on their behalf by Defence Counsel for the court to temper Justice with mercy and for minimal sentence, the Judge sent the two Defendants to jail 6yrs.imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre ( SLCC) in Kenema.
The matters were prosecuted by Andrew. F. Kamara, State Counsel and Customary Law Officer in Kenema whilst the Convicts were represented by Defence Counsel, Patrick Kamara of Legal Aid Board in Kenema.
