Retired Sierra Leone international striker Alhaji Kamara, popularly known as Andriano, has begun the construction of a modern six-aside artificial turf football pitch in Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, Lungi, in northern Sierra Leone.

The project, which is already underway, is aimed at strengthening grassroots football development while creating opportunities for young talents within the community. Initial groundwork has commenced as preparations continue for the installation of the artificial turf, which will transform the area into a modern mini football facility suitable for training, youth competitions, and community sporting activities.

Residents of Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom have welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm, noting that despite the strong passion for football among young people in the area, the community has long lacked a proper playing facility. Many believe the project will help nurture local talent and provide a safe and organized space for sports engagement.

Kamara, a former striker for the Sierra Leone national football team, enjoyed a distinguished career representing the country and has remained committed to supporting football development even after retiring from professional play. His latest investment in community sports infrastructure is being widely praised as a practical step toward empowering young players and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Local authorities and community leaders in Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom have commended the former international for the initiative, describing it as a meaningful contribution to youth development and community cohesion. They say the project will not only enhance sporting activities but also help keep young people positively engaged.

Once completed, the artificial turf pitch is expected to serve as a hub for football activities within the chiefdom and surrounding communities. Sports observers believe the facility could host local tournaments and training programs, potentially helping to identify promising young footballers who may one day represent clubs and even the national team.

For many residents, Kamara’s project is more than just a football field it represents hope, opportunity, and a renewed commitment to nurturing the next generation of Sierra Leonean football talent.
