Support Sports Sierra Leone whose CEO is Charles Marshall, based in the USA has over the past years embarked on propping young sporting talents especially in tennis. School going pupils are targeted so they grow up with the sport. It is an inspiration some say that comes from the Sierra Leonean tennis legend, Francis Tiafoe who is currently representing the great United States of America. So, Support Sports, whose work has seen tennis gaining traction again after a long lull in the game. These young kids are not only provided with free coaching but are also provided with education materials to keep them in school while playing tennis at the same time. Support Sports started with a small number previously but has increased it by 51%. And has also ensured a 41% increase in girls’ representation Two more coaches have been added making it a total of ten. In addition, there are two volunteers helping with the expansion.
On Saturday, 17th January 2026, the expansion program was launched at the Hill Station tennis complex. With T-shirts emblazoned with Support Sports logo tennis shoes provided for especially the girls the expansion program was launched and made official. All of these have come after Support Sports had earlier signed an MOU with the Sierra Leone Tennis Association and officially registered with the National Sports Authority which has given it leverage to operate, unhindered in Sierra Leone. Their work has also been extended to the provinces, starting with Bo district which is also officially registered with a functional office and staff.
