In a collaborative push to bolster security and combat crime, tribal authorities and community leaders in Kenema City met with the Police Regional Commander-East, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Francis Brima Meinday, and the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Kenema Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Bob Musa Nazlic Mansaray, during a courtesy visit. On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the engagement sought to deepen ties, advance community policing efforts, and forge a collective strategy to address crime and alleviate public anxiety.
Leading the delegation, Mr. Kuyatteh extended a heartfelt welcome to the commanders, expressing best wishes for a fruitful tenure in Kenema. He reaffirmed the tribal authorities’ resolute backing of police anti-crime operations, promising to provide accurate intelligence and offering comprehensive support to ensure peace and stability throughout Kenema and its surrounding areas. His remarks underscored a strong community commitment to safeguarding the region.
CSP Mansaray responded with gratitude, praising the initiative as an inspiring demonstration of civilian leadership dedicated to community harmony. He emphasized that security is a joint responsibility, highlighting the police force’s limited manpower and the vital contribution of community participation in maintaining order. His comments reinforced the need for a united front against local challenges.
In his keynote address, AIG Meinday conveyed deep appreciation to the tribal authorities for their persistent efforts in preventing crime, acknowledging their essential role as partners in regional safety and stability. He called on all citizens to transcend tribal divisions, advocating for unity among Sierra Leoneans with peace as a central national value. His message highlighted the power of solidarity in tackling security threats.
Concluding the discussion, AIG Meinday promoted the creation and sustained support of Community Safety Volunteers (CSVs) and Area Policing Partnership Committees (APPCs) to strengthen grassroots policing initiatives. He also urged tribal leaders to address minor, non-criminal disputes within their communities, thereby reducing the burden on an already stretched police force. This approach aims to optimize resources and enhance overall security in the Eastern Region.
This partnership signals a promising step toward a safer Kenema, blending traditional leadership with modern policing to meet the region’s evolving security needs.
