The political atmosphere in Constituency 077 is heating up as the 2025 elections approach, and on Saturday, June 14, 2025, a wave of excitement swept through Lungi. Mayu Kamara formally declared his candidacy for Honorable Slot 2 under the All People’s Congress (APC), drawing hundreds of party members, councillors, ward executives, youth groups, and supporters to the APC zonal grounds, with the APC’s red and white flags fluttering and chants resonating, the event was hailed as a transformative milestone for a constituency eager for transparent and equitable leadership.
Addressing an engaged crowd, Kamara outlined his agenda: inclusion, transparency, and development tailored to every ward, no ward committee member should be excluded from the national cake, he asserted, earning thunderous applause, every hand that builds must eat, his commitment to aligning projects with local needs struck a chord with stakeholders often overlooked in decision-making. Haja Zainab Sankoh, a longtime APC supporter and market vendor, remarked, we’re weary of empty promises. Mayu’s vision today restores our hope.
Kamara’s pledge to establish a modern, fully-owned APC constituency office electrified supporters, this will be a symbol of unity, a mobilization hub, and a space for structured planning, he explained, Alhaji Sankoh, executive secretary of the APC in Constituency 077, endorsed the idea, this practical proposal sets a new standard, and we trust his leadership and vision.
The declaration peaked with a heartfelt embrace between Kamara and rival aspirant Hassan Sesay, a rare display of camaraderie in a divisive political arena. Abu Bakarr Sesay, the constituency APC’s Public Relations officer, noted, this unscripted moment reflects the spirit of collaboration we need, Aminata Conteh, the Women’s Leader, added, Mayu’s unity-first approach exemplifies true leadership.
Support flowed from the grassroots, with youth, religious leaders, teachers, and business owners rallying behind Kamara. Serry Kamara praised his educational aid, he’s supported orphans with supplies and renovated our mosque, showing respect for all faiths, Fatmata Kallon, a small business owner, credited him with food and loans during COVID and blackouts, that’s why I’m here to back him.
Alhaji Sankoh, in his closing remarks, urged unity, we must overcome pettiness. Constituency 077 needs leaders like Mayu who unite with purpose, the APC executive promised a fair race but highlighted Kamara’s declaration as a benchmark for engagement.
The event concluded with chants of one person, one party, one goal and placards reading, the time Is Now and, teamwork for Progress, youth leader Salieu Bangura declared, this energy could make Constituency 077 a national exemplar.
As elections near, Kamara’s emphasis on fairness and development is reshaping dialogue in Lungi, challenging rivals to deliver results, his call for responsible leadership resonates beyond party lines, a story to watch as Constituency 077 charts its future.
