Abdul Sesay, a 46-year-old welder, appeared again before Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 3 in Freetown, where he is facing a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged incident took place on Tuesday, 13th May 2025, at Lightfoot Boston Street in the western area of Freetown. Sesay is accused of assaulting Alieu Kamara, causing injuries in the process.
Prosecution witness No. 2, Alie Tamba, a carpenter, took the stand, led in evidence by detective police constable (DPC) 12090 Zainab Bangura, Tamba testified that he knew both the accused and the complainant.
He recalled that on the date in question, he had gone to purchase building materials. After buying some items from Kamara, the complainant, he proceeded to another vendor for additional supplies, on his way, he said he saw the accused using abusive language.
According to Tamba, the complainant attempted to calm the situation, but the accused became aggressive. He testified that Sesay bit Kamara’s left hand, punched him in the right eye, and then kicked him in the side after Kamara fell to the ground, Bystanders intervened, and the accused was eventually apprehended. Tamba stated that he later gave a statement to the police.
The accused, who is representing himself, cross-examined the witness in court, Magistrate Kallon adjourned the case to 10th June 2025 for further proceedings, the accused remains on continuing bail.
