President Dr. Julius Maada Bio welcomed Mr. Manssour Bin Mussallam, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Southern Cooperation (OSC), to State House on May 8, 2025, reinforcing Sierra Leone’s dedication to South-South and Triangular Cooperation for sustainable development.

Minister of public administration and political affairs, Amara Kallon, opened the meeting, noting that the OSC was invited to the 3rd Africa High-Level Forum on South-South and Triangular cooperation due to its strong advocacy for Pan-Africanism and commitment to equitable partnerships among Global South nations.

Secretary-General Mussallam expressed gratitude for Sierra Leone’s warm hospitality and the opportunity to attend the forum, he praised president Bio’s leadership, particularly his push for United Nations Security Council reform and his practical approach to African challenges. Mussallam voiced the OSC’s enthusiasm for Sierra Leone to join the organization, recognizing its growing influence.

President Bio warmly welcomed the Secretary-General, thanking him for his visit and participation in the forum, he highlighted Sierra Leone’s focus on human capital development and sustainable resource use, our strategy empowers our people and leverages our resources for progress, Bio said, we value partnerships through South-South and Triangular cooperation to drive development.

Bio reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s readiness to deepen ties with the OSC and other partners to achieve shared goals, emphasizing equitable and inclusive growth.

The visit underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to multilateral frameworks that promote sustainable development across the Global South, solidifying its role as a leader in regional cooperation.
