In a recent meeting with the press, Mr. Ansu Tucker, the Director General of the Human Resources Management Office (HRMO) called on civil servants and the general public to familiarize themselves with the 2024 Revised Civil Service Code and Rules.

DG Tucker made this pronouncement at the weekly press briefing organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE) at the Miatta Conference Hall, Youyi Building, Freetown.

Mr. Ansu Tucker in his statements informed that the Revised Civil Service Code and Rules has been in the dugout since 2011 and only secured Cabinet Approval on the 18th December, 2025.

DG Tucker enlightened that the Government of President Bio is committed to citizens-centered reforms and legislations thus, the need for such a document – to address the present day administration of civil servants.

Delving further on the revised Civil Service Code and Rules, DG Tucker informed that this document has three additional chapters such as *Chapter (11) Provincial Administration, Chapter (13) Work Ethics, conflict of Interest and whistleblowing  and Chapter (14) Gender Mainstreaming* which are very essential necessity for the efficient and inclusive civil service administrative in Sierra Leone.  He stated that the whistle blowing is an essential necessity concerned with exposing wrongdoings or raising red flag in any administration thereby holding perpetrators accountable.

He informed that the Civil Service Code and Rules promote an amicable working environment which prioritizes equity and teamwork, and condemns gender-based violence.

He maintained that the revised document provides opportunity for all (including the physically impaired) to apply for a job and be recruited as long as the individual is qualified for the job.

It is worth noting that HRMO is one of the key public sector institutions that collaborates with the Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs for the revamp of the public service architecture of Sierra Leone as in Change five (5) of the Medium Term National Development Plan *(MTNDP 2024-2030)*.

This collaboration effort led to the presentation of the Cabinet Paper that led to the approval of the Revised Civil Service Code and Rules.
