The condition of the labour ward at the Rokupr Health Centre has come under scrutiny following reports of inadequate facilities and a lack of essential medical resources. Patients and healthcare workers alike have expressed alarm over the unhygienic environment and insufficient equipment, which they claim pose significant risks to maternal and infant health.

Local residents have voiced their concerns, stating that the postnatal ward is very small and lack of beds and foams. Many mothers have reported having to endure uncomfortable and unsafe conditions after childbirth. “It’s heartbreaking to see women in such difficult situations, where they should feel safe and cared for,” said one local resident who wished to remain anonymous.

Healthcare professionals at the facility have echoed these sentiments, highlighting challenges in the postnatal ward such as lack of beds, foams, bedding and lack of observation beds for all the units at the health centre including running water, which is critical for maintaining hygiene and sanitation in both the labour ward and postnatal unit. “We do our best with what we have, but the environment is not conducive to safe deliveries, we need the hall of the labour room to be titled “said Francess F Kamara a midwife at the centre.

The health centre, which serves a significant population in the area, is in urgent need of upgrades and additional resources. Community leaders are calling on the government and healthcare authorities to address these issues promptly.

As discussions around maternal health and safety grow, residents of Rokupr are demanding immediate action to ensure that the labour room at the Rokupr Health centre meets the necessary standards for quality care and safety. They insist that no mother should have to face the uncertainty and danger of childbirth in such poor conditions.

Residents of Rokupr and its environs are demanding immediate response to ensure that the labour room and postnatal ward at the facility meets the necessary standards for quality care and safety.
