In a major move to enhance the health and well-being of its personnel, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has launched a nationwide medical supply distribution exercise. The initiative, which commenced on February 12, 2025, is being spearheaded by ASP Dr. Konteh, Deputy Head of the Sierra Leone Police Hospital, in collaboration with ASP Dr. John Mumuneh.
The exercise aims to equip police health centers across the country with essential medical supplies, ensuring officers receive the necessary healthcare to perform their duties effectively. So far, deliveries have been made to key medical facilities, including the Jui Police Health Centre and the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA), with plans to extend to other provincial locations in the coming weeks.
Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, has reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the health of police personnel, recognizing that a healthy force is crucial for maintaining national security and effective law enforcement.
“The well-being of our officers is paramount. They work tirelessly to protect lives and property, and it is our responsibility to ensure they have access to adequate medical care,” said IG Sellu.
The medical supply distribution comes as part of a broader effort to improve healthcare services within the police force. In recent months, the SLP has also introduced other health initiatives, including free medical check-ups, diabetes screening programs, and surgical interventions for officers in need.
With this latest development, the Sierra Leone Police continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to the welfare of their personnel, ensuring they remain in good health while serving the nation.
