Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has called for stronger collaboration with medical practitioners to consolidate gains of the President Bio led government in improving the country’s health sector. The Vice President made the call for mutual collaboration at the 47th Annual General and Scientific Meeting of the Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association (SLMDA) on Wednesday, 12th February, 2025, in Freetown.
While opening the SLMDA’s annual general and scientific meeting, the Honourable Vice President highlighted some strides the incumbent has made on health interventions and the relevance of such developments in advancing health and wellbeing.
“This morning, I opened the 47th Annual General and Scientific Meeting of the Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association in Freetown where I reiterated government’s commitment to improving health outcomes. I highlighted successes such as the considerable reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates, increased number of health care workers, and significant investments to improve health infrastructure across the country, which continue to impact the quality of health care provision. I called for stronger collaboration with SLMDA to consolidate the gains and better prepare the health workforce for future challenges,” Vice President Jalloh noted.
It could be recalled that VP Juldeh Jalloh recently visited Connaught Hospital to inspect landmark healthcare projects at the country’s biggest health facility. The Vice President toured the hospital to have first-hand assessment on the said projects designed to improve healthcare service delivery in the country. The ongoing projects at Connaught Hospital include the construction of a burns unit, installation of a 1-megawatt solar energy system, a new microbiology lab, a dialysis centre, and the new trauma centers.
The Vice President has been instrumental in the conception, fund-sourcing and implementation of many health and development projects in general as the Principal Assistant to His Excellency the President Brigadier (Rtd) Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
