The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the media to enhance tax compliance and public awareness.
The National Revenue Authority (NRA) is strengthening its collaboration with journalists to improve tax education and compliance. Albert Lavaly Jr, Supervisor at the Public Affairs and Tax Education Unit, emphasized the media’s vital role in popularizing tax laws, reforms, and procedures.
“This engagement is crucial in fostering a strong relationship between tax administration and the media. It will help create awareness and enhance compliance,” Lavaly Jr stated.
He highlighted transparency, accountability, and professionalism as key to this partnership. “The NRA values constructive engagement with taxpayers and stakeholders, and journalists are crucial in supporting our work,” he added.
Lavaly Jr urged journalists to report tax issues fairly and effectively, noting that taxation is essential for national development. “Taxation is the lifeblood of our economy. The future of our country depends on tax compliance,” he said.
As part of efforts to improve tax education, Lavaly Jr attended a two-day training in Burkina Faso, engaging with experts on tax administration strategies. He believes such initiatives will further enhance NRA’s collaboration with the media in driving tax compliance in Sierra Leone.
