In a significant move to combat preventable diseases and improve public health, the Health for All Coalition has initiated a nationwide vaccination campaign. The program aims to immunize millions of Sierra Leoneans against critical diseases, focusing on rural and underserved communities.

The vaccination initiative targets diseases such as polio, measles, yellow fever, and hepatitis B. According to the Health for All Coalition, the campaign is part of a broader effort to achieve universal health coverage and reduce mortality rates from preventable illnesses.

The campaign is spearheaded by the Health for All Coalition in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, the World Health Organization (WHO), and UNICEF. Trained healthcare workers and community volunteers are actively involved in administering vaccines and educating residents about their importance.

The campaign spans all districts in Sierra Leone, with a particular emphasis on hard-to-reach areas like Koinadugu, Moyamba, and Kambia. Mobile vaccination units have been deployed to ensure accessibility for remote communities.

The campaign officially plans to continue through the end of the year. The organizers aim to cover at least 90% of the target population within this timeframe.

Sierra Leone has faced recurring outbreaks of preventable diseases due to low immunization coverage. By increasing vaccine uptake, the Health for All Coalition aims to protect vulnerable populations, particularly children under five and pregnant women, and contribute to the country’s overall health resilience.

The initiative involves a multi-faceted approach, including house-to-house visits, health facility outreach, and public awareness campaigns via radio, television, and social media. Vaccination cards are being issued to ensure proper documentation and follow-up doses.

Local leaders and residents have expressed gratitude for the initiative. “This campaign will save lives and ensure a healthier future for our children,” said Alhaji Dumbuya, a community leader in Kambia district.

Health for All Coalition officials urge all Sierra Leoneans to participate in the campaign and ensure their families are vaccinated. For more information, residents can contact their local health facilities or visit [campaign hotline/website].
