The vibrant sights and sounds of rice harvesting create a tapestry of life in rural constituencies, particularly during the peak season when fields are awash with golden grains.

Recently, Hon. Konkofa Farah Mansaray of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s (SLPP) party, a dedicated Member of Parliament representing Koinadugu District, embarked on a heartfelt visit to his constituencies, engaging with local farmers, making generous donations, and experiencing the harvest firsthand on a farm own by himself and the deputy minister of mines and mineral resources, Umaru Napoleon Koroma. This visit underscores the importance of grassroots engagement and the vital role elected representatives play in fostering community development.

Arriving in each of the communities, Hon. Konkofa Farah Mansaray was greeted by a lively group of chiefdom residents and local farmers, each eager to share their experiences and challenges. The mood was infectious as stories about the season’s offerings and hurdles were exchanged over freshly brewed chai. Understanding the agricultural backbone of his constituency, the lawmaker emphasized the need for better agricultural policies and support systems. He listened intently to their concerns about rising input costs and market access, pledging to advocate for initiatives that would benefit the farming community.

Recognizing the financial strain many families face during harvesting; the MP announced a series of community donations aimed at supporting local farmers and their families. Interview with Moses Lukulay, the lawmaker donated hundreds of bags of cement,75 shovels to different sections, iron rode and items for the construction and rehabilitation of community centers and health centers. The donations were warmly received, demonstrating the MP’s commitment to ensuring that no one in his constituency is left behind.

“As we harvest the fruits of our labor this harvest season, it is crucial that we uplift each other,” honourable Mansaray stated. “These donations are just a small step toward fostering resilience in our agricultural sector and supporting those who work tirelessly to feed our nation.”

After spending time with the community, the MP took a moment to visit a farm project operated by Neini Agric Limited Sierra Leone where he has actively participated in the farming processes over the years. This personal touch allowed him to connect further with the experience of local farmers and gain insight into the practical realities they face. At the farm, the MP joined workers in the field, learning about the intricacies of rice cultivation and the importance of farming in contributing to “the Feed Salone Project” of His Excellence President Bio.
