The Medium-Term National Development Plan which was launched few weeks ago in Moyamba has started being popularized around the country. It aims to make the big five game changers that were promised by president Bio in his 2023 election campaign promise and they include; feed Salone, human capital development, job creation, technology and infrastructure and then transformation of the public sector. It should run until 2030 and will “be regulating project implementations and assessment.” And on Saturday, 26th. October 2024 in the district council hall in Bo, stakeholders, civil society, school pupils, college students, disables etc gathered to have their say and own the plan. Hosted by Victor Korseh Hindowa, chairman, Bo District Council was very pleased to have played the host on the popularization. Speaking at the event, chairman, Bo District Council, Victor Korseh Hindowa said that ” plan is going to transform Sierra Leone into a middle-income country by 2030 and lift citizens out of poverty.
A civil society representative in Bo, Dominic Blackie promised that on their part “they will monitor to the letter from its inception to completion date without fear or favour. ” In her keynote address, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Kenyeh Barlay assured the gathering “that president Bio’s big five game-changer plans promised in the last election are going to be achieved.” She called on Sierra Leoneans to own the plan and “work together towards achieving it.” To her, the plan is an investment move to turn the fortunes of Sierra Leone around. And she went further to say that they have decided to go round the country because they want every village, town, chiefdom, district and region to be part of the implementation as it is a national issue. The occasion was climaxed by the distribution of MTNDP regalia items like brochures, cups and bags so that people can live with it until it becomes reality in Sierra Leone
