Dear Tech, I am very concerned with the way some schools will allow pupils and kids to hang around their vicinities during school hours. I see so much troubles in these acts, but maybe that’s because I am getting old. In my days as a school going pupil, I did not recall such things happening and so I don’t know if school authorities could step up to address this concern, if not, maybe the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education should up its monitoring and evaluation mechanism because what is currently happening is just not cool.

Media poverty is something else, but maybe one of the problems is the non-payment of adverts. It’s really terrible. Institutions could go for months and years without paying for media services. I don’t know if the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists could look into this? Some of these monies go into bad debts; ruining media institutions and investments. May there be a remedy soon because as it stands, some ministries, departments, agencies, private sector and some NGOs are just not in the good books of media houses.

The other day, I heard people talking about the non-performance of certain institutions in Sierra Leone largely because of some leadership shifts etc, but let’s face it, why should anyone appoint an unfit person in a strategic position. We really do not have to politicize everything. This is about being able to do the job and to deliver. Truth be told, there are institutions in Sierra Leone that may have gone down the drain just because a new person is now in charge and that should not be the case. We have others that are making progress and so we wish to call on government to thoroughly monitor institutions that are not delivering. Nobody should be baby-seated. You either get the job done or leave the seat! The time is now.

EDSA, the epileptic electricity supply in the city should be a thing of the past. We do not need to remind y’all that President Bio is the Energy Minister. We should not overstate what that means. At this state, should have appreciable access to electricity nationwide, in fact. Sadly, we still have places that cannot boast of a single drop of electricity. This is very unwelcoming in this 21st century. A paradigm shift is needed and that time is more than now and now!
