While delivering his congratulatory message to the Speaker and deputy Speaker of the sixth parliament of the second republic of Sierra Leone, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Hon. Alpha Jalloh of Falaba district has said for the problem of the country to be solved parliament must take a good shape.
Hon. Jalloh started by saying he was spending a congratulatory message to the new leader of parliament for and behalf of the people of Falaba district, while he prayed for wisdom, knowledge and understanding as they preside over the affairs of the African nation. *Mr. Speaker and deputy speaker may the Almighty Allah grant you competences that are required to carry out the job of a speaker and deputy speaker of these noble house
and may He guide and protect you as you discharge your duties that you swore to discharge” the law maker prayed.
Hon. Jalloh being an opposition law marker, cautioned both the speaker Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas and his Deputy Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh to serve with due diligence so that they can be remembered by their good work. “Mr. Speaker and deputy speaker, how do you want to be remembered” he asked, noting the speaker is now serving as the third most powerful person in the country, adding that it is only the sovereignty of the Almighty that remains. “This is the reason why speaker come and speakers go, deputy speakers come and deputy speakers go as well, leaders come and leaders go, yesterday was Honorable the Rt. Hon. Dr Abass Bundu, today is the Rt. Hon. Thomas
tomorrow not too long from now it will be somebody else ‘how do you want to be remembered’ he articulated.
He continued by saying deep the good people from his district want to see the nation grow and prosper while acknowledging that this is their time, moment and the opportunity to govern and make Sierra Leone grow, adding it is also the speaker’s time to show the world that the West African country can rise.
The Law maker emphasized the need for both the speaker and his deputy to execute their duties in fear and just, saying after their retirement the people will remember them for their good work. “Mr. Speaker and deputy speaker this is a special message the people of Falaba asked me to deliver on their behalf” he concluded.
