Five men Mohamed Swaray Kamara, Ibrahim Kamara, Lamin Fatorma alias Butter Cup, Brima Momoh, and Mustapha Kamara were on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, committed to the High Court in Kenema by Principal Magistrate Hadiru Daboh to stand trial on charges of conspiracy and kidnapping, contrary to law.

According to court records, the defendants allegedly conspired and, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Sembehun Village, Sembehun Section, Gaura Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District, Eastern Province of Sierra Leone, forcefully abducted one Mariama Kanneh for unlawful purposes.

During proceedings, prosecution witness (PW1) Watta Kamara testified under oath, recounting her knowledge of the events and identifying the accused persons. Formal witness (PW3), Detective Police Constable 15468 Foray Kanneh, also testified that he obtained voluntary statements from the accused in the Mende language, which he translated and recorded in English. He confirmed that the statements were read back to the accused in Mende, and each accepted them as true and correct by affixing their right-hand thumbprints.

After reviewing the evidence and hearing cross-examinations, Magistrate Daboh ruled that there was sufficient evidence to commit the accused persons to the High Court for trial. He further ordered that no bail be granted.

The prosecution was led by Police Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa of the Legal and Justice Support Department, Kenema Police Station.
