Police Investigate an Alleged

By Josephine Sesay

Police officers stationed at Hill Station checkpoint intercepted a vehicle suspected of being linked to a kidnapping incident in the afternoon of Sunday, 29th September, 2024. The operation unfolded when officers attempted to stop an unlicensed vehicle, but the driver ignored signals to stop the said vehicle and fled the scene.

District Traffic Officer Alimamy Turay reported that police pursued the vehicle using motorcycles and cornered it at Obama Junction. The driver is said to have abandoned the vehicle, escaping with three accomplices.

Police later found in the vehicle a man named John Jofe Koroma bound in the back seat with his hands and feet tied, his head wrapped in cloth, and his mouth taped.

Koroma is currently assisting police in their investigation at the Criminal Investigation Department at Regent, providing critical information about the ordeal.

He recounted that the alleged kidnappers had approached him under the guise of wanting to buy his vehicle. After boarding the car for a test drive, he was overpowered at Tacugama end, beaten, and subsequently restrained.

The vehicle has been impounded at the police station as the investigation continues. Authorities urge anyone with information related to the incident to help in apprehending the suspects.
