In a strong demonstration of humility, unity, and service-oriented leadership, the Deputy National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Robert Kondema Kargbo, on Saturday, 4th October 2025, led a large-scale cleaning exercise at the Party’s National Headquarters in Freetown. The initiative, undertaken on behalf of his boss, National Chairman Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, aimed to ensure that the party headquarters remains clean, organized, and welcoming to members and visitors alike.
The cleaning exercise drew impressive participation from party executives, grassroots members, staff, and supporters, who joined hands in thoroughly cleaning the premises. The atmosphere was lively and collaborative, reflecting the SLPP’s longstanding culture of discipline, community service, and environmental cleanliness.
Demonstrating true grassroots leadership, Robert Kondema Kargbo worked alongside party members throughout the activity sweeping, organizing, and motivating volunteers. His humility, energy, and personal involvement won widespread praise from participants, who described him as a leader who not only gives direction but leads by example.
Speaking to reporters during the exercise, Deputy National Chairman Kargbo explained that after consulting with National Chairman Songa, both agreed that the party headquarters should embody the SLPP’s values of cleanliness, order, and unity.
“A clean environment reflects a disciplined and focused institution. As a party that values integrity and good governance, we must start by keeping our own house in order,” he said.
He emphasized that the SLPP’s culture of cleanliness and civic responsibility traces back to the leadership of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, who institutionalized the National Cleaning Day across Sierra Leone. He encouraged all party members to emulate that vision by maintaining hygienic surroundings and fostering a spirit of teamwork
Participants lauded the initiative as timely and inspiring, describing it as a powerful symbol of unity and renewal within the SLPP. They commended the National Chairman, his Deputy, and the entire executive for championing initiatives that promote not just political growth but also social responsibility.
The event concluded with renewed calls for continuous upkeep of the party headquarters and regular community cleanups as part of the SLPP’s broader commitment to clean governance, solidarity, and people-centered leadership.
